Did you know that 99% of those cute puppies you see in pet store windows are acquired from puppy mills and poor breeders?
Puppy Mills are nothing new. These mass dog-breeding operations have been around for decades and they continue to thrive because they prey on unwitting consumers who are smitten by all those too-cute-for-words puppies in pet store windows and on fancy websites (please read why we protest.) But behind the friendly facade of the local pet shop, the pastoral scenes on a "breeder's" website, or the neighborhood newspaper ad, there often lies a puppy mill.
Each year millions of companion animals are destroyed through euthanasia due to the greed of commercial puppy mills, the ignorance of Poor/Back Yard Breeders and irresponsible pet owners. New laws, public awareness and compassion will end the suffering of these voiceless creatures.

A Rare Breed of Love is a book that was inspired by "Baby," an abused puppy mill survivor who lived through a 9-year ordeal in order to become a "national spokesdog" to raise awareness about cruelty in the dog breeding industry.
Like all the breeding dogs, Baby was tattooed with a number and had her vocal cords cut so the owners wouldn't have to listen to her cries to be let out of her cage. Her leg was amputated after her rescue due to the abuse she suffered.
On the day Baby was scheduled to be killed she was rescued by a passing stranger who was dubbed the "Drive-by Angel." Eventually Baby found a forever home with author Jana Kohl, who was inspired to tell the world about her ordeal and hopefully reform this cruel industry. learn more
Angella and Dianna:
God bless you for what you are doing -- I hope Baby and I can come up there one of these days to protest with you -- please don't give up -- it will pay off.
